Apocalyptica Concert

It was second time for me when I went to the concert of this Finnish band. First in 2006 in Kyiv (as far as I remember) together with Geothe and Yuliya. And this was just awesome. Now I had a chance to be present at this cello metal fest once again and it was just amazing!!!
I must admit there were not that much people attending as in Prague and the hall was definitely smaller. I came 2 hours in advance which allowed me to stand right in front 3 m from the scene.
Right at 20.00 warming-up group came, and that made lots of people laugh at the beginning as everybody saw 5 guys of age 12-15 on the stage:) But the laughter disappeared when those school guys played a good heavy/power metal for half an hour. Not my style but definitely not bad, and to be at such an age a warm-up for Apocalyptica tells a lot:)

Then it was 1,5 hour show of cello music - awesome and amazing!!! Almost everything was perfect, lights were just awesome, scenery with skull-cello-shaped chairs. I was quite surprised to see 4 of them instead of 3 (number of cello players in Apocalyptica). And it was quite cool to see and enjoy the play of Antero Manninen (he left group in 1999) who together with Eicca played most of solo and lyrical parts in the songs. His person definitely added quite a few to the show, his "blind-like" look, calm behaviour (he never stood up from his chair while playing) and, of course, playing skull-looking cello lit from inside making smoke!

The played songs where the old ones mixed with new from "World's Collide album", of course, some Metallica hits - loved "Four Horsemen" and enjoyed so much "Enter Sandman" and "Nothing Else Matters". Besides it was cool to hear songs which are sang with vocals on different albums, played now without - just pure cello music.

And again as in Kyiv, Mikko was great. Couple of times I found it hard to follow the cello melody as was enchanted by the great rhythms of his drums. Two times in the end Apocalyptica guys were coming back and playing more, finishing with no-vocal version of "Seeman".
All the evening I was standing quietly and enjoying the night and the beauty of the music, sometimes whispering the words of Metallica songs... Around me were mostly guys and girls from 14 to 18 which is very usual for rock concerts of famous groups. But at the same time one could see quite grow-up people who were enjoying this in a bit different way. I belong to the second category though I'm not that old:) just prefer to enjoy the music silently:)

Amazing feelings when coming back home, a bit deaf but happy. Soon - Therion, hope salary is coming so I can buy the ticket, later next year - Within Temptation, Nightwish and HIM. What more can a person that loves rock music wish:) I know - I wish I have enough money for that:))
