On Sunday Yuliya and I decided to take Norwegians for a day trip outside of Prague. Destination - Krivoklat castle, place we still hadn't been to and which seemed to be a nice spot to visit, especially after "Wanted" with Angelina Jolie (smile).
The trip consisted of 2 parts - regional train to Beroun and local to Krivoklat. Some people slept all the way as previous day was a bit tiring and some were watching the beautiful day and nice Czech countryside.
Approaching Krivolat we already saw the castle on the hill. When we got out at a really tiny old railway station, we stopped for a toilet break (and a beer) in a restaurant just under the castle. Then we got uphill and entered the castle which appeared to be a typical nice medieval castle with a big inner yard, restaurant there, some entertainments and a tourist shop.
We bought the tickets for a castle tour and apart of the reason that it was in Czech and guys needed to read English text from paper it was quite ok. Especially we like the Gothic chapel inside which was really splendidly decorated and looked really stunning. Some stories of the guide were also fascinating and I even remembered one after we were back to Prague which usually happened really rarely to me in regards to sightseeing things (smile).
The day was still incredibly sunny and great, so after the tour we found a table in the yard and had a small snack with a tasty Czech beer. Then we just sat and relaxed and it was a great time!
Before taking a walk outside the castle, we took more of the "jumping" pictures and those were really good. Had never made them before, but it's actually a great, funny and memorable thing to do with your friends - all you need is a bit more clear background and good camera with properly set shutter speed and aperture (smile).
Following the path leading outside the castle we found a couple of nice spots with a great "external" view on the castle.
Before heading back to catch the train, we stopped for a dinner in the local restaurant and had some local Czech food with a local Czech beverage (smile). Drawing conclusion, I can say that the we spent a really great day with friends and nice places around, the only negative part was a long, almost 4h in total, trip from Prague to Krivoklat and back. So the advice here would be - if you want to get out for the trip to some castle, still choose the famous Karlstein or not that famous, but really great, Konopiste chateau.
