Yuliya's present for my birthday arrived to Prague only on 30th of May though it was bought more than a month ago. But it was totally worth of waiting.
Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 II APO EX DC Zoom Lens Kit for Canon.
My 2nd lens after fixed 50mm Canon EF f/1.8 II. I've ordered it from Amazon and it arrived to Yuliya's sister in San Jose, CA. Then it was picked up there by Abi, a former AIESEC trainee here in Prague, who work now for e-bay and was going to California for a business trip.
After having brunch with our friends on Sunday morning, still feeling a bit "hard" feeling after all karaoke (smile), we went for a walk to Letna park where I used the chance to try my new "baby".
I'm not a professional, so everything said below is only my perceptions and experience.
First impression - very heavy. After having my 400d with kit lens 18-55mm or 50mm, all the gravity laws seem to be very active (smile).
Other impressions - it's just great!!! Totally new things open when you start taking photographing with it. Zoom allows you to have a totally new perspective on the object and compose. f/2.8 allow you to be fast, in the situation with low light, create nice depth of field when zooming.
Especially zoom lens makes a difference when you have a panoramic view, that time at Letna park I had it over Prague and here's what I got. One shot was played a lot in Lightroom but I love the effect. All the others had a slight correction.
Summing up, I love it! Equipment does really make a difference and if you want to go further in your photographing skills and have financial resources for that - please do it!
